Martin Noel Robert
Born in Valenciennes, France, Martin Noel Robert (born Martin Sonnensberger) is a Düsseldorf-based multi-instrumentalist, filmmaker, and composer whose work thrives on nuance, fate, and the beautiful imperfections of human nature.
The Cinematic Vision
Having shaped his craft at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and Emerson College in Boston, MNR translates deep atmospheric sensibilities directly onto the screen. As a writer, director, and producer, he has helmed three distinct short films: the Italian-shot Strada Statale 113, the Boston-based The Letter, and I Dino what to tell you, a Cologne-based piece honoring Jim Jarmusch’s Coffee and Cigarettes. Driven by the oddities of life, MNR embraces coincidence in his upcoming feature screenplays, focusing on character-driven journeys that explore human failure only to emerge with a profound sense of hope and improvement.
Sonic Artistry & Upcoming Albums
The artistic foundation of MNR remains deeply sonic. Moving forward into a new creative chapter, he fully decouples his extensive multi-instrumental skills from past collective constraints. Proficient in guitar, bass, synthesizers, drums, percussion and highly adept in the production booth, MNR handles every layer of his instrumentation with a distinct, singular vision.
Having previously shaped the international electronic pop scene as a founding member of Stabil Elite, releasing two acclaimed albums, Douze Pouze and Spumante, touring globally from SXSW in Texas to Cinema Djenin in Palestine, as well as contributing to Bufiman and The Kloom (40 gram beton), MNR is now channeling his multi-instrumental mastery into fresh territory. Throughout the defining years of 2007–2015, he was a constant, nocturnal presence within the inner circle of the Salon des Amateurs. Embedded in the venue's foundational era and its entourage, he contributed to the local scene’s evolution through various live performances and release shows, helping shape the unique cultural landscape that eventually gained global recognition.
Looking ahead, MNR is set to release two anticipated new albums fueled by his versatile musicianship and production affinity, scheduled for release later this year.
